My week was so boring that I don't even remember what I had wanted to post from a couple days ago.
The best part of this week is when Hope's puppy (actually he's not a puppy anymore), Sam wandered into my yard and later got to talk to Hope after what seemed like too long :) Tomorrow (Saturday -_- ) I have a practice test for APES at school. On Sunday, I have to volunteer in the afternoon/night. Oh, we also have a Spanish and APHG test on Monday (when I will study for that, I know not..), a bio and astronomy test on Tuesday and an English test on Wednesday. And I still haven't been able to do my permit course. Ugh. Where is summer?

-- Ally Condie, Matched Ok guys, in case you didn't know, my incredible friend, Niyati Shah, has gotten first place in her speech competition (state level) and has now qualified to go to nationals!! Great job girl, we are all so proud of you!! Keep up the great work, and wish you the best of luck for the next level!!
So this week has been quite interesting...no I'm actually just kidding, this week has been nothing special. There were just a few things that are worthy of a blog post. I finished the henna and it looks simple but decent :) I finished Unwind (by Neal Shusterman) and I'm now starting the Giver (by Lois Lowry). Unwind is amazing and the Giver is also really good so far. I (kinda) had soup that was on the Hunger Games. Or at least it should be. It was (well, it looked like..) a mixture of different vegetables and water. There may also be a bit of salt and pepper in it. Superwomen is doing a Collab!! I don't think I've talked about this but Superwoman is a Indian YouTube-er and is hilarious (especially to other Indians!) She recently collaborated with Conner Franta and I have started to watch his videos too! Search them up! Indian cookies are much healthier than the cookies we get over here, and they taste really good. You also don't feel as guilty when you eat more than you probably should... I actually did have enchiladas yesterday
Yesterday my daddy fell while playing tennis!!
He got a pretty bad scrape on his left knee and he twisted his ankle on this right! It now looks like there is a small orange on the inside of his ankle... anyway.. Feel better!! Don't go on unless you can handle mildly gross pictures... Today happened to be one of those days where I planned to do a lot of important work, but ended up doing something (s) totally different. I have a love-hate relationship with those days.
I woke up this morning ready to finish all my homework and then do a bit of studying for a couple upcoming tests. Instead, I finished painting the Ganesha that I had been working on for mom's (late) birthday present, hung the painting up, made brownies, gave the brownies out, did henna on myself and then decided to do a bit of studying. Thanks. This President's Day was spent wisely. Didn't do much today...finished a bit of homework..read..started watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which, based on the first 30 min, is very good) and painted mom's birthday present (hopefully that should come up here in a little while). At around 5:30, we left to go clothes/furniture shopping. Although I couldn't find anything that I liked or wanted, I did end up getting stuck sitting on a couch, reading, for about 45 minutes. Unless you have a sibling, furniture shopping is extremely boring. We left by around 8 and went to a new Indian restaurant nearby. Now let me make clear that Orlando has all of about 4 Indian restaurants in total. Now in this plaza we were on had 2 restaurants plus an Indian crafts shop on the same lane. The entire alley smelt like oil and curry. On the bright side, the food that we ate at Sankalp was very good and I'm sure that place is soon going to expand based on the business we saw today.
Today in Dr. Weaver's (English) class we were blind. After watching a very intense and emotional video of Helen Keller, we were supposed to bring blindfolds and pass unknown object around the circle. Even though we know where everything in the class is and who was sitting next to us, we felt isolated. Once we finished that activity, we went outside on a big field with a partner. Putting our blindfold back on, we let our partner lead us where ever they wanted. If your partner wasn't there, even for a second, you feel so helpless. And if your partner leads you somewhere you don't want to go, it doesn't matter because you don't have a say. You don't know where to go, or what to do. Now, we could hear, so it wasn't nearly as bad as what Helen must have experienced. Loneliness engulfs you.
We couldn't last one class period. How did she last a lifetime? On a less serious note, so sorry Varun, I wasn't exactly the guide you expected ;) and I got that right back when Nayha walked me (blindfolded) into the wrong classroom -- on purpose. I have to say though, good job ;) TWISTED -- SEASON 1 WINTER PREMIER STARTS TODAY.
BEST. SHOW. EVER. Yesterday was...interesting... I went to bed on Saturday making sure to keep my laptop, phone and iPod in my nightstand drawer. I even went to the extent of making little notes that I stuck around the hands, just to remind myself. When I woke up (not to my alarm) we had to go out to SAT class, which meant I had to go through math without a calculator, which suddenly takes a whole lot longer. After the class, we went to Walmart which was quite hard, because I had to constantly stay in close proximity with dad so that neither one of us got lost. We were home by around 1, I did homework until about 2:30, ate lunch and then we slept. We slept from 3 until 5 o'clock an it felt very good. After I woke from my slumber, I continued with a bit of homework, read for a long time, ate dinner and by then the day was done. I couldn't believe it but I actually got through a day without any devices and I wasn't bored out of my mind. I even made a list of what I could and couldn't use:
What I've felt I needed (but really didn't):Phone: Ok, honestly, I need this one. I couldn't pick up mom's phone twice just because I wasn't supposed to. And Walmart? Let's not even go there. i Products: This one was a bit easier. I didn't need this, but of course, that just makes me want to use it even more. Joy. TV: This one wasn't hard either. I haven't been watching TV as much lately. Laptop: Not using my laptop was not as hard as I expected. The hardest part was not being able to use it for the homework that was due tomorrow. Radio: long car rides. |
