You mean we didn't travel 45 min between two houses in the same hot city all month?? Unheard of. This year's India trip has definitely been more memorable than most. Mumbai was unbelievably hot, and because we went in May the monsoons didn't help to cool the weather. Being around the rest of the family again was the only thing that got me through the heat waves (that, and the AC in the malls ;). Mom got food poisoning in Bangalore so 'a lot of shopping' got replaced by 'a lot of nausea'. But, it was great seeing chitan, chita and Saanu and we were able to catch up after a long time. Also I got a really cute Keventers glass bottle from Bangalore that shattered on my last day in India. I feel like I had to have that on record somewhere. But the most exciting part of this trip was definitely Goa! While the beaches and the food were not as phenomenal as people make the state to be, spending those few days with 9 other people is what made it worthwhile. The Sandalwood Resort that we stayed in had a private beach and we were all able to spend the first night's golden hour at the shore (pics below!). There was also a swimming pool, which was the top requirement on Kaavya and Lisa's list. Luckily, all of us enjoyed the pool (adults included) and we spent many hours over our trip enjoying the water and each other's company. And -- as expected -- I got a few judgmental glances for my one piece from the daadi that lives in my 9 year old sister's body. I think I've realized that no matter how long I live in America, or how much of this culture I've adopted, a part of me will always be in India. too senti, sorry sorry.
It has been almost four an a half years since I started this blog and I have decided that it was time for a new look. Posting a few screenshots of the original layout for the memories :)
