It is not necessary that your birthday be the most eventful day of the week.
The day after my birthday was supposed to be a day dedicated to catching up on the school work I decided to put off until then. But while I was in the office room busy studying, (and both my parents were out), it seemed like our house had other plans. My dad came back to half the house flooded because of an overfilled washer, something I wouldn't have even know about if I hadn't gotten some frantic shouts from the adjacent room. The damage was not unfixable, but at one glance it was obvious it would be a lot of work. The entire laundry room was completely flooded. That water then got on the carpet and soaked the whole middle area (going as far as to get in the bathroom, the beginning part of my room and a few feet into the guest room. The kitchen was filled with about half an inch of water from the dishwasher to the fridge. Half an inch may not sound like a lot, but when you are armed with only a bucket, a cup and a few towels, it might as well be an ocean in front of you. With my dad and I diligently working, it took us about an hour and a half for initial damage control. The carpet was even more of a pain and currently it is day two and the smell of wet carpet has settled as just a part of our lives we have to now accept. (With the damaged area literally right outside my room, every time I step out, I am hit will a wall of wet carpet. If you've never smelt that before, consider yourself lucky.)

Year 17 of my life begins
Year 3 on the blog begins #fuegoweebly Wonderful birthday celebrated with my closest friends. Shows that there's no need for a planned party to make the best out of the day Spent the opening minutes of the day with Niyati Shah, who gave me an amazing calendar, filled with all the dates and pictures that I really need ;) Morning: Got a another great surprise from Suraj and Vaishu with them bringing Suraj's (not so little) puppy, Rocky, who I had yet to see. Played with the dog, grabbed Chinese and bonded with each other. Later at night, the Hunter's gang (plus our Oviedo chick, Niyu) met up for after dinner snacks, continuing the tradition. The best day spent with the best people. Love you all. After more than 2 years of grueling homework, arduous essays, and an incredible amount of late nights, today marked the day we were officially inducted into the IB program. It was a proud moment for us all, as it not only symbolized that we were able to make it this far, but showed that the IB diploma was in reach and all we had to do was keep up our hard work.
It was ironic -- it was supposed to be the night that we we could take a break and celebrate the fact that we were all getting inducted into the program, but most of our class did not attend the ceremony because we had 3 tests the following day. Priorities. 11.19.15 💞 Pinned. |
