After another successful Secret Santa (To: Hannah Z., got her a Christmas mug, pilot pens, a shirt that says I'm just kitten, and of course, socks ;), a picture similar to one we did last winter, and a failed attempt of a potluck at Bear Creek (from which we got kicked out before it even started...), I thought the apex of the day had been passed, but in reality it was far from it. Vaishu surprised me by telling me that she is coming over for a few hours. After some time talking, we started watching The Maze Runner -- which is a very good movie, in case you are wondering. Basically, we had a great time :) This is just the first day, and I wonder what the rest of the break will bring. In English class we were asked to make a video for Project For Awesome, supporting a charity of our choice. After help from Yasmina, Suraj and Sahil, and countless hours of editing, I had finally finished the video and posted it on the P4A page as well as on YouTube.
We decided to do the organization To Write Love On Her Arms, which is a foundation dedicated to support and help provide treatment to those suffering from anorexia nervosa, anxiety disorders, self harm, suicidal thought and other forms of depression. This is a truly great organization with a truly great cause. You can Watch the video HERE and if you are reading this on the 13th of December 2014, you can Vote for the video HERE. The videos with the highest number of votes has a chance to win money for their charity!! Warning: The video is slightly morbid, but I hope it gets the point across. Huge thank you to Jordan Lindquist, who was able to teach me how to make the cuts like it is in the video. If it weren't for you, I would be stuck with little red lines on my hand. After 3 samosas, 2 dances, and 1 giant fall, the second successful year of ISA had been completed. Our first dance was done with Vaish, Yasmina, Mary, Suraj, Sahil, Varun and I, and learning that song was quite an experience with some memories that will leave neither my mind nor my phone. Our second song was done by Seema, Amber, Reyshma, Vaish and I and I have to say that dance turned out to be one of the best. Interesting/Embarrassing event #1: As soon as our first dance was done, I wanted to run (from backstage) to the audience portion of the auditorium in order to see Saumya play an absolutely beautiful piece on the piano. Unfortunately, I only made it a few steps before my foot got caught on the cloth of my patiala pant, and the next thing I knew, my nose was an inch from the ground. No knees, no palms to break my fall. Straight from 5 foot 2.5 inches to ground 0. But what hurt more wasn't the pain, but rather how embarrassing it was to fall like that with so many people watching. Interesting/Embarrassing event #2: A few weeks ago, the seniors had asked me to help them with choreographing parts of their senior dance. I was in charge of the boys single dance and I helped out with another group song. But apparently, by the last period, Vaish had told me that they were planning some grand finale and we should go backstage and watch. After seeing the dance without anything too big at the end, I decided that they were done and told Vaishu that it was probably over. But she kept insisting that there was something else. And there sure was. By the end, all the guys in the dance called me out on stage and thanked me for helping them (they also sang a very cheesy poem) all of which Vaish knew about for the entire day, and which I had absolutely no clue. (I did felt something was up when Vaishu kept insisting for us to stay backstage but I was sure I was just imagining things.) After this long day (+ 20 minutes of getting tickets for movie night), we went to Mary's house to work to work on our science fair project. Suba and Suraj had also come for a little, and during that time, we laugh until I could feel abs magically appear on my torso. By the end we made the (not so fudgy) "fudge" it was about 7, and finally time to go home.
I woke up this morning completely sore. And that is exactly how you know you had a successful day. |
