Ok today was pretty awesome :) This post comes in three parts. Brace yourselves; there's a lot about to read Part 1: The ISA FestivalAt about 5:10 in the morning of Friday the thirteenth, my mother wakes me up, primarily because I didn't have my iPod on me. After waking and checking that my hair hasn't transformed into a rat's nest (rats don't even live in nest...). I didn't. I finished all my morning routines and then changed -- wait for it -- into Indian clothes. Yup. Indian. Which I haven't worn to school since 2nd grade. After spending too long (trying to) beautify myself (which didn't even really work...). I left with an overfilling side bag, a box of candy an extra large jacket, and a dupatta that just refuses to stay on my shoulder. Met up at McDonald's with Varun and Saumya and then headed to school. Upon reaching there we didn't feel completely awkward because there were a bunch of other brown people right by the entrance. After a period of setting up and finial rehearsals we finally felt ready. But that was before we saw the wave of people come through the auditorium doors. That, we were not expecting. Vaishu and I didn't dance 2nd period, but I did the fashion show (which was cute) and the henna at the end. Today was the first time, ever, that I did henna on someone, standing up. And then 3rd period came around...and we went on the stage. And we dance. And we smiled. And we danced some more. And we -- or at least I -- loved it. Nayha was the bomb with her amazing security guard-ness :) During 5th period we had an amazing photo session (which you can view below), K3G poses and all. 6th period came and we danced, again. And it felt great, again. Henna was a lot better this time and I was able to get through more than a person and a half :) And then it was done. Just like that. I honestly have no idea where the time went, but it was all so fast. And so wonderful ^.^ Part 2: Movie NightAs part of being class rep for the freshman ib class, we are required to go to these sort of thing. As a way to raise money for the end of the year field trip, we have to do these cute little fundraisers. Chick-fil-a day. Candy sales. Ice Skating. Those sort of things. This particular one happened to be a movie night, where people would come over to watch one of a couple different options of movies. Ok, remember that today was Friday the 13th. So what would be better than a horror movie like Insidious?? Apparently, Home Alone. The other two movie were Pitch Perfect and The Avengers and of course those were packed. But home alone?? 1 person. 1 stinking person made all the officers and the teacher in charge HAVE to stay there. That was stupid. There was like 6 ppl in the room and most of the time I just did Yasmina's henna (which actually turned out pretty good :) and we all talked about everything but the movie. Well, I guess it was alright. Part 3: BabysittingOk. This was my first time. Ever. At the Shea's house. And, well it was umm....interesting... I walk in about 15 minutes late, but that was only because I reached home from movie night at about 6 ish and by the time I got 1 (one!) granola bar to eat and went through the door, 15 min had passed. I got their numbers and everything and went to see the kids. Regan had definitely matured and even got braces! Shes so cute :) I'm actually meeting Colton for the first time and boy is he CUTE too! As I walk in they were watching a Disney movie and after a bit of small talk kinda worked Colton goes into the pantry and gets himself something too eat. Now little miss Regan is being and AMAZING big sister (only in 3rd grade!) and tells him what to eat and what not to eat, for he is allergic to high fructose corn syrup. More food and more small talk. After a bit I don't hear from him for a while. When I question Regan about it, she tells me that he is hiding. But why, you may ask, is he hiding? Because he pooped. Ya, that sentence never ends well... Well as a heads up, if a small human being poops into his/her diaper, CLEAN IT. IMMEDIATELY. Or else you will have to survive a bundle of odors (not too pleasant. let me tell you) running around the house. Now I had never changed a diaper, before. EVER. I honestly had no idea what to do, or worse, what to expect. Fortunately for me, Ragen had taken a class on how to change diapers. Unfortunately for me, she had never actually done it on a live child baby. Oh and apparently the poop at her school didn't smell. Soo guess who was left to do the rest?? Yep. Me. I'm going to spare you from the details but just know that after about 7 and a half very gross minutes, it was done and the kid had his pants firmly back on. With that episode done, we (Regan and I) tried to get him to sleep. And we tried. And we tried some more. During all this trying, Regan went to sleep. But the kid was still up. After a lot of soothing, and big boy talk, and bribing (ok so I know I probably shouldn't have done that but I honestly had no other option -- and even that didn't work) he finally went to sleep. But I think that was basically because most of the lights were off and he was pooped (see what I did there?? ok bad joke, my bad.) and at around that time (10:45 ish), Kiera came back from an orchestra concert. Not too later, Mr. and Mrs. Shea walked through the door, and (here's the best part!) PAID MEEE! This was also my first earnings, EVER. (like $45!!) And honestly it was all worth it :) (let me also mention that I had been surviving from 6 to 11 on one granola bar, so I was sttaaarrvvinnggg) Things I learnt today:
