After not more than a few days of planning, a few hours of uncertainty and a few minutes of packing, I was on my (first flight alone) to Washington D.C. to attend the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. There, I met up with Ila and Sanchi -- and later Sanchi's friend, Aarti -- and we toured D.C., admiring all the breathtaking cherry blossoms that had just bloomed. The sight was phenomenal. Cotton balls, snow, clouds -- how ever you want to describe it. Attending this festival is a 'must' at least once in your lifetime.I was also able to get much closer to both Ila and Sanchi, and I would have to say they were wonderful "mothers". To top that off, the weather couldn't have been better. The sun was out all day, with not a cloud in the sky. The weather was just right for a Floridian's standard: a cooling breeze with the rays of sun still warming your face. (not to mention the wonder's that the lack of humidity did to my hair) Walking 27,159 steps (12.0 miles), not only does this city life provide a whole new aspect on the "normal" way of living, but it provides a required amount of exercise whether you ask for it or not. I would absolutely love to spend another trip with these lovely girls (oh, sorry -- women), and I hope that time comes soon!
